Rank Checker runs entirely on app.serpupdate.com. The Extension has no interface for entering keywords or URLs for Rank Checker; it acts only as a browser-control tool that scrapes data when directed by the app.
Where Rank Checker runs
Every Rank Checker action, from creating a project and entering a domain and keyword list, to viewing charts and results, happens on app.serpupdate.com. Within the Extension, the Free Rank Checker button on the top bar or status bar is only a shortcut: clicking it redirects you to app.serpupdate.com.
The Extension does not handle Rank Checker input
The Extension is a browser-control tool for scraping data, not a place to enter keywords or URLs. You always operate Rank Checker on app.serpupdate.com; the Extension only runs the scraping using your own IP.
How it works: app.serpupdate.com controls the Extension
The process
- Create a project on app.serpupdate.com: declare your main domain and keyword list.
- Choose Extension as the run method (instead of Cloud).
- app.serpupdate.com sends a signal to the Extension on your machine. The Extension controls the browser and uses your own IP to scrape SERP data: Top 100, AI Overview, Brand Mention.
- The results are aggregated and stored on app.serpupdate.com so you can view charts, ranking history, and competitor comparisons.
Requirements to run
You need to have installed and signed in to app.serpupdate.com, keep the browser open, and select the Extension run method for the project on app.serpupdate.com.
How to get started
- In the Extension, click the Free Rank Checker button to be redirected to app.serpupdate.com (or open app.serpupdate.com directly).
- Sign in, create a project, and enter the domain and keyword list you want to track.
- Choose the Extension run method, then start it.
- Track progress and view all results right on app.serpupdate.com.

When you encounter reCAPTCHA
If Google shows a reCAPTCHA during scraping, the Free plan opens a window for you to verify it yourself, while the Pro plan solves it automatically with the AI Captcha Solver so there is no interruption. Click the Stop button at any time to stop.
AI Captcha Solver (Pro)
While scraping SERP data, Google sometimes shows a reCAPTCHA. The automatic captcha-solving feature is available only on the Pro plan.
Pro plan: activates automatically
With a Pro account, the AI Captcha Solver is activated automatically, with no manual action needed. When a reCAPTCHA appears during scraping, the Extension solves it so the process is not interrupted. The Captcha AI toggle on the top bar shows its status.
Free plan: manual verification
The Free plan does not include automatic captcha solving. When a reCAPTCHA appears, you verify it manually and the process continues.
